Sugar mill restarts after worker death

Milling company Sucrogen will resume operations at a north Queensland mill later this morning, after a worker will killed on site at the weekend.

A 46-year-old plant operator died on Sunday at the Proserpine mill, north of Mackay, after becoming trapped between two cane bins.

A Sucrogen spokeswoman says the man had worked at the mill for four years.

She says initial investigations have been completed and the mill was shut down as a mark of respect.
