Legal action against Harvey Norman stores

Two Tasmanian Harvey Norman franchises are among those being taken to court by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The ACCC alleges 12 franchises, including stores at Moonah and Launceston, engaged in deceptive conduct about refunds for faulty goods.

It accuses them of telling customers there was a fee for the repair and return of faulty products, or that Harvey Norman had no obligations to replace faulty goods under a certain value.

A hearing has been set down for December in Sydney.
