A new proposal to divert heavy vehicles around the centre of the Top End town of Katherine has been released for public consultation.
Katherine Mayor Fay Miller says the plan confirms that Bicentennial Road should be used by heavy vehicles.
She says the only planned new addition is the inclusion of traffic lights on the corner of the Stuart and Victoria highways and the loss of car parking.

"They would have to look at parking behind their premises."
