British newspaper The Guardian has announced it is launching a new digital edition in Australia this year.
The newspaper, which reports a global digital readership of 39 million people, says Australia is its fourth-largest market with 1.3 million users.
Paul Chadwick, the outgoing director of editorial policies at the ABC, will become a non-executive director of The Guardian's Australia entity.
Entrepreneur and media investor Graeme Wood will be a founding investor.
