Independent Gladstone MP Liz Cunningham has welcomed a compensation deal for commercial fishing operators affected by dredging.
The Gladstone Ports Corporation has put forward a multi-million dollar package for operators that once fished in the western basin dredging area.
It says they will receive around 18 months worth of gross revenue for loss of access.
But the package does not cover last year's outbreak of sick fish.
Ms Cunningham says the compensation is well overdue.
"The amount of compensation that the various fisherman are going to be eligible for - they do have to keep logs so the empirical data they've got to supply is available," she said.
"I'm saddened that it's taken so long in terms of the recompense to fisherman."
