New ferry has mechanical problem

There has been a mechanical problem for the new ferry operating between Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas.

The ramp problem affected the Aurora V ferry at Lucky Bay near Cowell on Wednesday, delaying vehicles.

Sea SA managing director Stephanie Dawson said teething problems were to be expected.

"It's just like when you're travelling even on an aeroplane today, you have technical issues that delay your departures, delay your arrivals and the technical people, the engineers, deal with it and you're on your way.

It's just part of modern travel," she said.

"We will still expect to have technical issues over the next few days as the crew and the vessel get settled in.

"As I said, nothing that's world-shattering or nothing that we haven't encountered before."
