Apple (AAPL) says its redesigned iMacs will go on sale Friday.

Both models of the iMac, the 21.5-inch and the 27-inch, will go on sale on Apple's online store. The smaller model will also be available at Apple retail stores and Apple resellers, the company said on its website Tuesday.

For now, the 27-inch model will be sold only online and will begin shipping sometime in December, the company said.

The new iMacs, which were unveiled in Oct. 23 along with the iPad mini, were originally announced without a definite date of availability, and there has been speculation that Apple would not be ready to launch the new iMacs because of manufacturing hiccups.

The 21.5-inch model begins pricing at $1,299 and the 27-inch starts at $1,799. Some of the new features include an LCD screen, 45 percent thinner display and a faster processor.
